Contacting Artists - Art Urbane

Contacting Artists

Start building your artist portfolio!

Set a weekly goal to contact at least 5 artists or designers for your portfolio!

STEP 1: LOOK FOR THESE 5 THINGS IN YOUR SEARCH FOR ARTISTS!

1. Excellent Craftsmanship and Artistic Talent - Art Urbane doesn't aim to sell everything under the sun. We are keen on helping to build a quality environment for our Creative Entrepreneurs and artists to thrive, and although you are able to sell most mediums of art and design here, the pieces reflect how much we value quality craftsmanship and artistry.

2. Only Fine Art, Furniture, Decor & Fashion Accessories - Art Urbane does not support beauty products, fashion clothing, or any food items. This is due to the nature of Art Urbane as a platform devoted to selling art and design to fund public art projects.

3. Professional Images Art Urbane may remove any products that do not meet photography standards in order to maintain a quality platform for all Creative Entrepreneurs.

4. Made Year-round or an OriginalArt Urbane recommends that products are made year-round. Art Urbane does work with artists that make designs on demand, like the crafted wood furniture by Brian Fireman.

5. Professionalism - It is important that the artist is professional. Will they deliver on time to the buyer? Do you feel they would make a good business partner for you?

STEP 2: FIND ARTISTS!

When you find an artist you're interested in contacting, add them to your Artist Registry. This ensures that the artist belongs to your portfolio, exclusively.

a. Search In-Person: Attend art shows, museum stores, galleries, festivals, design conferences, artwalks, and art events in your city or town! Just go out - do some exploring! If the artist is not present, jot down their name and find them online.

b. Search Online: Searching for artists to add to your store online is the easiest and most effective way to find talent. Websites like Etsy, Saatchi Art, AHALife, Bespoke Global have troves of amazingly gifted artists from all over the world!

*NOTE: Always work directly with the artists. Do not go through third party representatives, third parties or online stores. You are their competition!

b. the Creative Que: We've also put together a list of artists that have yet to be contacted. You'll find them in the Creative Que. If you're interested in contacting them, add them to the Artist Registry, so they belong to you, exclusively.

STEP 3: LEARN HOW TO SIGN AN ARTIST USING JUST 3 EMAILS

1.  First Email Script: Introduction to Artist

2. Second Email Script: Explaining the Terms & Registration  Once the artist expresses interest, the Second Email is sent and prompts the artist to finish the Registration Process and email you the list of available artworks to add to your portfolio!

3. Follow-up Email Script  If you do not hear back from an artist, send another Follow-up email. Some artists do not respond because they are busy, it is sometimes best to continue to follow up until you receive a "No".
